Mums & Baby Pilates - Tuesday 10th September 11am, 6 week course
It comes as no surprise that the woman’s body changes dramatically during the stages of pregnancy and through labour, with pressure on the pelvis causing changes in posture, separated abdominals leading to diastasis rectus, and straining (and weakening) of the pelvic floor muscles.
A postnatal Pilates programme is an extremely safe way for women to return to exercise, 6 weeks after the birth of their new baby. Pilates exercise will target the weakened and stretched abdominal muscles, building core strength and control, as well as helping to restore body confidence and improve overall wellbeing.
Bringing your baby to classes means that they can make new friends whilst you meet new mums and share experiences – and if you need to take time out to feed, change or play, that is absolutely fine.
Pregnancy Pilates & Relaxation - 6 week course Tuesday 7th January 2020 6.15pm
Exercising during pregnancy offers many physical and emotional benefits, including maintaining muscle strength and preventing musculoskeletal problems. Because of the gentle nature of many of the exercises in Pilates, mothers and mother-to-be are increasingly turning to Pilates during and after pregnancy. Pilates exercise during pregnancy will help to relieve back pain, increase labour stamina, improve flexibility, strengthen the pelvic floor and helps mums-to-be relax and unwind.
Pilates was not originally designed for pregnancy, therefore some of the traditional repertoire is not suitable for pregnant ladies. If you wish to practise Pilates throughout pregnancy please ensure you attend classes with a Pregnancy Trained instructor.
The sessions comprise of 45 minutes pregnancy Pilates and 30 minutes deep pregnancy relaxation, with scripts you can take through to your pregnancy to help you during the labour period.
